Second freshman baseball player named Ivy League Rookie of the Week

In his first year at Brown, first baseman Pete Greskoff '11 is already off to a great start. Greskoff was named Ivy League Rookie of the week on Tuesday after his breakout game against Dartmouth on Sunday.

In just his second and third Ivy League starts against the Big Green Gresskoff went five-for-seven, belting two home runs and two doubles that contributed to the eight runs he drove in for the Bears on Sunday. In Bruno's first game alone, Greskoff drove in six of the team's seven runs. In the second game of the day, he scored two and drove in two more for the Bears.

Over the weekend, Greskoff raised his batting average to .320, going eight-for-25 and tying for the team lead for home runs at four. Three of his home runs came against Ivy League opponents which also ties him in the League at third.

Greskoff follows fellow first-year Matt Colantonio '11 as the Bears' second player to be named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. He will likely see more time on the field after his outstanding performance and is currently slugging .880 on the year and 1.308 in the Ivy League.
