To the Editor:
In regards to a recent article ("Students finding new mailroom problematic," Sept. 4):
Mail Services, Facilities Management and Shawmut Design and Construction have been working diligently with the mailbox vendor to rectify the issues identified with the new mailboxes installed in J. Walter Wilson. Over 6,000 new mailboxes were installed and less than 200 have been identified as defective - product quality unacceptable for various reasons.
We fully understand the need to get the boxes operational as expeditiously as possible and every effort is being made to do just that. All boxes identified to Mail Services staff as problematic are expected to be fixed by the end of the day on Thursday, Sept. 11. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your patience during this transition. Best wishes for a great year!
