Three Brown students were rescued after being lost overnight in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. New Hampshire Fish and Game officers and volunteers found them safe at 2 a.m. Monday.

The Associated Press reported that the students were with a group of about a dozen hikers Sunday afternoon when they decided to explore on their own.

Fish and Game Sergeant Brian Suttmeier told the AP that the three men did not have adequate clothing or supplies when they left the group.

They did have a cell phone, which they used to call for help on Sunday evening.

Suttmeier said the students may be asked to reimburse the rescuers, the AP reported.
