 The Department of Public Safety e-mailed a crime alert to the campus community at 7:59 p.m. last night regarding the robbery of a male student. According to the alert, the robbery took place near the intersection of Barnes and Brown streets around 1 p.m. yesterday.

The alert notified students and employees that the victim was struck from behind before his tablet computer was taken. The alert described the suspects as three "unidentified black males," all between 15 and 17 years old.

According to the e-mail, two of the suspects fled north on Brown St. and the third ran east on Barnes St. after the incident.

DPS Sgt. Bob Mackisey told The Herald that the Providence Police Department informed DPS of the robbery.
