Letter: Response to Edelson ’29: Being ‘ever true to Brown’ means attending athletics

To the Editor:

I applaud the column written by Clay Edelson ’29 calling for increased student support of Brown Athletics. Indeed, six years ago, after serving as the sports editor of The Herald, I expressed the same sentiment.

“Please, let’s show up in force, and let’s give our baseball team the support it deserves,” I wrote, noting that only 220 fans had attended the team’s 2018 home opener. Given the hours and hours that our athletes pour into their craft, players deserve far more support than that.

It is unfortunate that seemingly not much has changed, but I’m glad to see Edelson taking up the cause. People should listen to him — Brown sports are lots of fun!
