Brown to continue to pay 81 percent of student workers after transition to remote operations

The University will continue paying 81 percent of student workers as Brown transitions to remote learning, despite its recent announcement of $20 million in COVID-related expenses.

The U. Grievance Committee found that the circumstances surrounding the cancellation of Egilman’s class were “inherently suspicious.”

Residential Peer Leaders will receive a 20 percent increase in their stipend for the coming school year, along with an added responsibility to assist students who have been locked out of their dorms.

Three recent Brown alums were included in the 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Hip-hop educational platform creator and CEO Austin Martin ’17, health-conscious hard seltzer company co-founder and CEO Nico Enriquez ’16 and multimedia journalist Emily Kassie ’14  were all honored for their entrepreneurial work.

Kate Felder was given a Rising Star Excellence Award. The Excellance Awards highlight exceptional University employees annually.

Students in grades 3-8 improved their reading and math scores on an R.I. standardized test by 5 and 3 percent respectively this year, according to results released by the Rhode Island Department of Education last week.
