Student volunteers resurrect soup kitchen

Since Oct. 28, the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John has served the roughly 200 people who have come to its soup kitchen. The soup kitchen had closed in May when its head director, Tom Veronneau, decided to move on. “No one wanted to take responsibility of organizing it,” said Megan Smith ’10, a coordinator for student group Housing Opportunities for People Everywhere.

Study examines OCD among children

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is often thought of as a disorder that affects adults. But a new study by Brown researchers shows that it can actually develop in children as young as four years old. The study, which began in 2001 and was published Sept. 18 in the Journal of Psychopathology and Behavioral Assessment, involved clinical psychological assessments of 58 children from ages 4 to 8 with moderate to moderately severe OCD.

Blood drive ends, drawing over 318 pints

A three-day blood drive held on campus this week collected more than 318 pints of blood, including 148 on Wednesday alone.
