SJP: A Call to Action: Protest the Douglas/Sharansky Lecture

By

Thursday, January 28, 2016

Today Jan. 28, Michael Douglas and Natan Sharansky will be coming to Brown for a lecture devoted to spreading “hasbara” (propaganda) on college campuses. Brown will be the first stop on a three-part tour. We as activists committed to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement write in opposition to this lecture on the following grounds:

I. The Jewish Agency for Israel will be funding the lecture as part of a massive push made by the Israeli government to conflate pro-Palestinian activism with anti-Semitism. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose own government will be funding this event, has said this time and time again: “Those who wear the BDS label should be treated exactly as we treat any anti-Semite or bigot. They should be exposed and condemned.” It is immoral to smear social justice activists with claims of anti-Semitism, and this is a strategic tactic used to delegitimize BDS and turn attention away from Israel’s apartheid regime.

II. The Jewish Agency for Israel has been the primary vehicle for colonizing the land of Palestine for the last century. It has been involved with land expropriation and massive settler immigration as part of an ethnic cleansing campaign intended to clear the land of Palestinians. It is the same group that funds Birthright programs and Israel Engagement Fellows like those at the Brown/RISD Hillel.

In 2013, the Jewish Agency for Israel released a report stating that its efforts to combat BDS had failed, and thus they laid out a plan to fight the movement like never before. The Israeli government under Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration pledged $100 million and individual donors pledged another $200 million to start a campaign to label BDS activists as anti-Semites.

III. Natan Sharansky is well-known in Israel for campaigning against the rights of African refugees. He has been relentless in refusing to allow them to settle in Israel, saying to the Times of Israel, “we cannot automatically give everybody the status of a refugee and treat them as political refugees because really there could then be millions of these.” It has also been discovered that he stole aid funds pledged to African refugee settlement and put the money towards the Jewish Fund for Israel. It is a disgrace that such a bigot with an ugly track record of anti-Palestinian, anti-African racism is being lauded on this campus.

IV. This is an affront to academic freedom: Brown students should not be exposed to propaganda campaigns executed by state powers, especially colonial state powers. Further, so long as the Brown/RISD Hillel continues to abide by the Israel Guidelines for Campus Israel Activities, set by Hillel International, which forbids criticism of Israel, it stands in direct violation of academic freedom. Brown/RISD Hillel has refused to become an “Open” Hillel, which means that American Jews are still not allowed to speak freely regarding Israel within Hillel. So long as it accepts money from the Netanyahu government to put on lectures and abide by the Hillel International Israel guidelines, Brown/RISD Hillel is directly in violation of academic freedom.

V. The idea of bringing Michael Douglas is part of what the Israeli government has laid out as its Brand Israel campaign, a campaign designed to put the spotlight upon Israel’s cultural capital, rather than on its violent repressive policies. As Wayne Firestone, executive vice president of Hillel said about the campaign, it is intended to portray Israel as a place where “there are cool, hip people.” We object to this blatant whitewashing, and Natan Sharansky, one of the speakers and the head of the Jewish Agency for Israel has been quoted as saying that college campuses are a focus of this Brand Israel campaign.

In light of this, we invite all people of conscience, pro-Palestine supporters and defenders of academic freedom to join us outside Salomon today at 7 p.m. for a rally in order to speak out against this justification of Israeli crimes and infringement of the Israeli government upon our campus.

  1. Natan Sharanksy – Among the biggest proponents of Apartheid in Israel. And he masquerades as some kind of Human rights leader. “Human rights for me, but not for thee”. But not to worry Israeli Apartheid is not one of the “sins” recognized by Brown. That would involve some honesty.

Natan Sharansky, propped up by the Hillel on this latest “cleansing of Israel image tour is not some fighter for human rights, but rather one of the worlds most odious characters and oppressors of Human rights. All brought to you by the Hillel and its “safe spaces”.

    http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/sharanskys-double-standard/

“Sharansky maintains that in principle he supports an independent Palestinian state, but in practice he has thwarted steps in that direction at nearly every turn. ”

“Even before he became formally active in Israeli politics, Sharansky was linked with some shady characters. The Scotsman tied Sharansky’s Yisrael B’Aliyah to Russian mafia figure Grigory Lerner. ”

“In July 2000, the Israeli paper Ma’ariv revealed that the U.S. Treasury Department had provided documents to the Israeli government showing that over $300,000 had been transferred by an American nonprofit organization to an Israeli filmmaker to make a campaign film for Sharansky in violation of Israeli election laws.”

    • Stacey Horcher says:

Oh SPARE me! Israel is the ONLY place in the middle east that is NOT apartheid! Do you know that Jews (not Israelis, JEWS) are not allowed to own land or be citizens in MOST of the middle east? That is apartheid. Arabs in Israel have citizenship with full rights, Gays have full rights, Women have full rights, Black and ARAB women have full rights, vote, drive, serve in the military. ONLY in ISRAEL. Go pick on some of the real apartheid countries like Saudi Arabia where there is STILL SLAVERY! Where WOMEN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE! Have you ever protested against them? I’d bet not. Spare me your loathsome ignorance, I’ll not abide it. If you think Israel is apartheid it’s because you have consumed lies about it from arabs who look so much the worse by comparison, and use their oil money to create a smokescreen behind which they abuse women, other arabs, and keep and buy and sell human slaves. While you stand criticizing Israel, things in arabia are getting worse and worse for women and minorities. Iran hangs men on mere suspicion of being gay, and here you are complaining about Shransky. SPARE ME!

    • Justice Not Propaganda says:

Here we go. More lies and hatred from the paid terrorist-supporting troll.

    • Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia: there should be no churches in Kuwait, Oman, Yemen, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE

This is on Muhammad’s orders: “I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim.” (Sahih Muslim 19.4366)

And that doesn’t mean just Saudi Arabia. That means Kuwait, Oman, Yemen, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Islamic Tolerance Alert: “Saudi Arabia Declares Destruction of All Churches in Region,” from Charisma News, April 1 (thanks to Rene):

Earlier this month, news reports surfaced out of Saudi Arabia that raised the red flag for Christians.

Todd Nettleton, a spokesman for Voice of the Martyrs USA, says, “The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia—the top Islamic official in the country of Saudi Arabia—has declared that it is ‘necessary to destroy all the churches of the region.'” Nettleton goes on to note that the report hasn’t surfaced anywhere except on the Council on Foreign Relations Web site, which was then picked up by The Atlantic.

  2. To conservatives who criticize “safe spaces” and BLM (not that i agree with them entirely), where are your criticisms of the Hillel sponsored “safe space” for Natan Sharansky and his apartheid promotion ( there’s another word that is more appropriate).

Do you really believe the event, sponsored by the HIllel, an organization notorious for its censorship on speech, offers a free discussion on Israeli apartheid (i mean more than the one question you can ask IF ALLOWED).

    http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/sharanskys-double-standard/

“Finally, Sharansky told an American interviewer that he saw no incompatibility between his ardent Zionism and his commitment to the struggle for universal human rights and democracy. But when push comes to shove, Zionism trumps all else for him.”

And for the eye rollers on BLM, isn’t Sharanksy giving a variant of BLM. By refusing to be accountable for apartheid on Palestinians isn’t he saying only certain lives matter ? Fill in the blanks “For Sharansky – Only __________ Lives Matter”

    • Justice Not Propaganda says:

More lies and hatred from the paid terrorist-supporting troll.

      • Did you get paid for this post from the IDF ? Do bill them.

        • Justice Not Propaganda says:

No, mxm. I don’t need to be paid to stand up for what’s right and what’s moral against lying terrorist-supporting pigs.

          • And you think supporting apartheid is moral. Oh well, atleast you have Ari for company.

          • Justice Not Propaganda says:

No. I would never stand up for apartheid. That’s why I support Israel, where apartheid only exists in the imaginations of the hateful terrorist supporters who attack her. You know – people like you.

    • The Islamic apartheid movement has failed to erase the only Jewish state to make it another Islamic state, sorry.

  3. ShadrachSmith says:

    A parable on point
Hillary Clinton goes to a gifted-student primary school in New York to talk about the world. After her talk she offers question time. One little boy puts up his hand. Hillary asks him what his name is. “Kenny.” “And what is your question, Kenny?”

    “I have three questions:

First – whatever happened in Benghazi? Second – why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office? Third – whatever happened to the missing 6 billion dollars while you were Secretary of State?”

Just then the bell rings for recess.

Hillary Clinton informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess. When they resume Hillary says, “Okay where were we? Oh, that’s right, question time. Who has a question?” A girl—Sally—puts her hand up; Hillary points to her and asks what her name is. “Sally.” “And what is your question, Sally?”

    “Where’s Kenny?”

  4. Ironically the Zionists have all the freedom they want to spread hasbara propaganda while using everything in their power to delegitimize and stop any BDS event.

    • Except zionists due not try to stop BDS events. They aim to counter the rubbish that BDS events promote. It is called free speech.

One another note, the vitriol with your using “Zionist” and “hasbara” is obvious. Hate much?

      • Ever hear of Amcha and StandWithUs that promote blacklists of speakers on American campuses ? Why do you keep making stuff up.

    • Justice Not Propaganda says:

How comical. The terrorist-supporters who violently shut down pro-Israel events to stifle any debate over the lies they spread are crying that the pro-Israel groups won’t let them spread their lies, propaganda, and hatred. You just can’t make this stuff up!

  5. Israel isn't all evil says:

This essay is nearly incoherent, not to mention riddled with factual errors. Doesn’t seem to appreciate the irony that it is guilty of all the things it is accusing the other side of. Is Netanyahu — and the many others who share this view — not permitted to conclude that BDS is largely driven by antisemitism? At the same time as it excoriates Israel for resisting restrictions on African immigration (itself a bizarre thing to charge any nation with), it is outraged that Jews immigrated to what the author thinks is Palestinian land. So which is it? If refugees should be permitted to enter lands, then what exactly was wrong with Jews returning to their ancient homeland? Its mischaracterization of Hillel’s Israel policies borders on the libelous. And it accuses this lecture of whitewashing when it hasn’t even heard anything the speakers intend to say. Is it possible — could it be possible — that actually arguments might be made on behalf of Israel in this lecture? Is THAT what this group is protesting? But then who exactly is attempting to infringe on academic freedom? Here’s another idea for this group, if they truly stand for free speech etc. Attend the lecture. Listen respectfully. Then raise your hand and ask respectful, if challenging questions. Then write up something afterward debating and critiquing everything you disagree with. But to attempt to smear the lecturers before they even arrive, and do so so incoherently and misleadingly, is a disgrace. One at least hopes that the rally will be respectful and peaceful, but this piece doesn’t offer one great optimism.

    • “not to mention riddled with factual errors” – Except you haven’t pointed out a single one.

“ancient homeland?” – Your religion (nor does mine) doesn’t give you (or me) a right to kick another people off their land. At least after the UN was formed.

whitewashing – The format of the program belies itself to the convenient whitewashing that’s gonna take place. Yes the nuisance or what you so nicely called “respectful” questions will be limited to perhaps ONE. Lets not pretend otherwise. Of course in such a format the speaker can so easily sidestep it. We all know how this charade works.

I’m sure the rally will be more respectful and peaceful than the openly racist ones in Israel we witness these days. Or are you going to make excuses for that too.

      • Stacey Horcher says:

Jews owning land in Israel that they bought and paid for is by no means whitewashing. However, you have exposed racism here, your own. Spare me.
Hate Jews much? Suck my maxipad.

      • Arab apartheid has failed to erase Israel. Sorry.

      • Are ready to read what Dutch mapmaker Hadriani Relandi described when he visited the Holy Land in 1699? He found a population of primarily Jews followed by Christians and the smallest almost inconsequential group were Bedouin Muslims. … so who was “kicked off “their” land? Describing it anyone’s defies what the Nomadic Bedouin is. Despite this constant claim of people being”thrown off their land” – there is no further explanation of who they were and how they came to be there. How did Arabs from Arabia – or nomadic Bedouins come to be in a land called Judea – when the Judeans, or Jews are deemed to be interlopers? Here’s further information about the book “Palestina” or by its original professional name “Palaestina, ex monumentis veteribus illustrate”, published by Trajecti Batavorum: Ex Libraria G. Brodelet, 1714. http://www.newenglishreview.org/blog_direct_link.cfm/blog_id/31135

        • I’ll stick with Lord Balfour. But thanks for trying to pretend that Palestinians came from Mars.

          • Arabs from the Palestine Mandate are not even able to pronounce the word “Palestine” – so they may as well be from Mars given I suspect they would be able to pronounce that. On a serious note Arabs by the very nature of being Arab ARE FROM ARABIA you silly ignorant person – and Judeans are from a place called Judea. This is NOT rocket science – its just a simple fact of life. Arabs didn’t come from Greece, or France, or Alaska – they camera from Arabia – DO YOU DENY THAT? And do you deny that what you refer to as “Palestinians” are in fact Arabs? So can we both agree that they are from Arabia or do you deny that? Can you accept that Judeans are more then likely from Judea? See if you can process all that before getting so snarky

          • Now you have a literacy test for Arabs. Also Arabia refers to a general area not some defined location that you wish to pretend as distinct from Judea or whatever mythological cockamania you can come up with.

          • Yes it refers to the Arabian Peninsula and so once again – Are Arabs from the Arabian Peninsula or not?

Judea and the Kingdom of Judah are by NO MEANS a myth or are you suggesting they are?

Are you now denying that Judea and/or the Kingdom of Judah existed?

          • Lmfao, mythological is a country called “Palestinian”. Never existed in the history of mankind.

          • And neither did Israel, before it was created. Irony.

          • Created 3000 years ago, and your point oh moronic one?

          • The name Palestine dates all the way back to at least the Roman Empire. But, to your more specific point, the name Palestine was used by the Ottomans in the 19th century and by local Turks, Arabs, Jews, and foreign missionaries. The Arab population in Mandate Palestine would absolutely have known the word ‘Palestine’ although they would pronounce it ‘Falastine,’ which is how it is, and always has been, spelled in Arabic.

Also, Arab is a pan-ethnicity referring to peoples who come from Arabic-speaking lands. Some Arabs may be from Arabia, but many people living in, say, Syria around the 7th century became ‘Arabized,’ meaning that they now participate in the cultural-linguistic ethnic category that is ‘Arab.’ So, too, do the Palestinians. Their being ‘Arab’ actually tells us very, very little about where the population is ‘from’ in some trans-historical sense. It would only be correct to say that the classical form of the Arabic language is ‘from’ Arabia.

And if Arab ethnicity seems too complicated for you to understand, rest easy: Jewish ethnicity is no simpler. The modern definition of a Jewish person as used in Israeli law dates back to a 1930s Nazi German classification system. Throughout history, many different people from Morocco to Ukraine to Beijing have practiced the Jewish religion and the question of whether or not they can be called a single ‘people’ is incredibly complicated. So, no, they are not all ‘from’ what you call ‘Judea.’ But the ancient Hebrew language is.

          • A “historian” eh? And what school did you graduate from? Where did you do your Masters and Phd? From reading your comment I’d guess you are just a “Historian” in your own mind as in pretend historian more concerned because someone is making an easy to understand argument and that threatens your BS – Arabs are from the Arabian Peninsula – do you deny this? If you do, you are no historian at all – you are as much a historian is Professor Irwin Corey

Arabs are from the Arabian Peninsula and Jews or Judeans which is who we are, are from Judea – Are they not?

Jews are Judeans – we are from the Kingdom if Judah or Judea and this “historian” can tell you whatever he wants but its anything aside from the obvious is absurd.

Just pick up any map, Atlas or encyclopedia published before 1950 and have a look at what Jordan renamed West Bank and lo and behold – its called Judea and Samaria -its not complicated like this so called “historian” would have you believe – its very simple. Jews or Judeans are from Judea and Arabs are from the Arabian Peninsula – the rest is spin and nonsense to continue their absurd narrative

          • Did you pass grade 3? No did you ever attend any learning institution?

          • Even a historians perspective can’t beat a fanatics perspective.

          • Have you found an Atlas or map published prior to 1950 yet? Or have you now sunk to the silly tactic of using ad hominem attacks which just reveal you have nothing to add or can engage. So I’m a fanatic because I dare to challenge the the SJP / BDS types?

          • Your foggy mind seems to be incapable of processing any historic facts.

          • Of course you ducked the questions so you either don’t know or dare not answer. Lets try again. Are Arabs from the Arabian Peninsula or not? Are you suggesting Judea and the Kingdom of Judah are myths?

            Anxiously awaiting your reply

      • Racist in Israel? Wait, remind me again how many Jews are in Gaza and the PA controlled areas of Judea and Samaria, where Jews lived for thousands of years? Yeah, zero, after the Israeli government made them leave in the hopes of peace. How naive of the Israelis to actually believe you can make peace with savages. Remind again how many Jews are in Arab countries after they expelled almost a million in 1948, confiscating their possessions? Yeah, just about zero. How can a college student be so brainwashed and stupid? Thanks for playing.

        • You mean the UN gave the state of Israel for Jews and you want to steal more land. Why make excuses for apartheid.

          • And the moronic one ducks a other factual point with a convoluted answer…. Failed debate in kindergarten huh?

  6. Ronit Jacobs says:

Protest away SJP, but stop your lies and slander. There is no apartheid in Israel, just ask South Africans who know apartheid first hand. Muslim Arabs serve in the IDF and in the Israeli Knesset. No such thing ever happened under apartheid. Palestinians should be saved from their corrupt oppressive leaders, PA and Hamas. Where are the billions of dollars of international aid? Why are they not seeking peace at any cost? Instead, why are they inciting violence? Why are there Palestinians in the West Bank living in refugee camps billions of dollars and decades later? Why are Abbas and his cronies millionaires? No oversight, no accountability, minority oppression, misogyny, no free press, LGBT murdered, political descenters murdered, setting up impossible terms for peace negotiations and of course, always scapegoating Israel for Palestinian misery. Answer the tough questions for once. You are not human rights activists, you are blame the Jews and destroy Israel activists. BDS’ only goal is the destruction of Israel. The founder of BDS, Omar Barghouti says so openly all the time. From the river to sea means no more Israel. Identify yourselves as the genocidal terrorist supporters you are. We are sick of the hypocrisy and scapegoating. BDS hurts Palestinians seeking work in Israeli companies more than anyone else.

    • “We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.” – Nelson Mandela.

The rest of your diatribe is just that, a diatribe to change the subject.Next….

      • Ronit Jacobs says:

You see folks, as expected, SJP will never answer the tough questions. Why, because blaming the Jews is the only thing they know how to do. Looking at the real issues means confronting the harsh reality that Palestinians suffer at the hands of their own leaders who have not held elections in close to a decade. SJP is a terrorist supporting Jew hating genocidal group that dresses itself up as a human rights activist organization.

        • As soon as the inconvenient questions about Israel apartheid come, the “blame the Jews” starts. Just like Netenyahu.

You didn’t contradict/challenge what Nelson Mandela stated. I guess it’s on to the next without answering for Israeli apartheid. Same old same old.

          • Stacey Horcher says:

Except that in Israel, blacks, women, gays, arabs and Christians are all allowed to hold any job, drive any car, own land anywhere and vote. So there is no definition of “apartheid” that includes the supposedly “oppressed” people in every legal activity permitted to the “non oppressed”. Spare me your vapid antisemitism, it’s ugly and pathetically NON-academic. Go look up the definition.

          • Are Palestinians allowed to live, vote anywhere in Israel ? Their neighbors who are Jewish are allowed.

Quit making up endless stories to mask apartheid.

          • Israeli Arabs (1.5 million of them) who are citizens of Israel vote in Israel.

Palestinians (who are not citizens of Israel) don’t get to vote in Israeli elections BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT CITIZENS OF ISRAEL.

          • And that’s called apartheid !!!!

          • Justice Not Propaganda says:

No, moron. People who aren’t citizens don’t vote in elections. That’s not apartheid. That’s government in every country that holds elections. Newsflash, moron. Mexicans don’t vote in US elections. Mexicans vote in Mexican elections. Gazans vote in Gaza elections (when they have them). And fakestinians in the West Bank vote in Palestinian Authority elections (again, when they have them). If you have a problem with fakestinians not being able to vote because their president is in the 11th year of his 4-year term, feel free to take that up with Mr. Abbas and his cronies.

          • Ronit Jacobs says:

Then I guess Mexicans living in Mexico should be given the right to vote in US elections. Do you ever listen to your dribble? You sound intellectually challenged.

          • Are you for real? Intellectually challenged people would put you to shame!!!!!

          • Actually it would be like Americans living in Mexico (on stolen land) and stripping Mexicans off their rights.

            Quit promoting apartheid.

          • Edward Devotion says:

What are the rights of others in “Palestine” Mr. bigot!!

Quit complaining of a foul odor across the street when the stench from your own house is overwhelming!!

          • Justice Not Propaganda says:

Oh, look. mxm has brought another paid troll to the party to help him advocate for terrorist fakestinian squatters.

          • Edward Devotion says:

Who is that supposed to be?

          • Lol,Devotion is unfamiliar with Hasbara!!!!!

          • Aren’t the only paid trolls are Hasbara trolls?

          • Flag his comments. I have tried reasoning with him for years. It is a waste of time. He must be shut down. He is a stupid version of Goebbels.

          • Why don’t you just quit, you sound like are close to cry from desperation.

          • It must be the stench emitted by your filth!!!

          • Edward Devotion says:

            OK…Antisemite!!

          • Anti-Semitic accusations against those who oppose you is all you can resort to?

          • Edward Devotion says:

Don’t waste my time on Jew haters like you.

          • Arab apartheid has failed to erase Israel. Sorry kid.

          • Flag all his comments. Otherwise evil will win the day. Mxm personifies evil.

          • Evil will certainly win when the likes of you succeed to silence the truth.

          • Oh yeah, you are a sorry sad lier.

          • Ronit Jacobs says:

They are not Israeli residents or citizens moron! They are under the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. Not sure who would vote for corrupt terrorists to rule over them, but that is precisely what they did. Corrupt terrorists that have not held elections in close to a decade. Oh, but Israel is the source of their misery. Hmmmmm. Doesn’t quite jive, does it?

          • ” they are not Israeli residents or citizens” They are Palestinian citizens resisting an oppressive occupation.

          • And you Ronit Jacobs know fully well that the PA is an Occupational Authority. Quit promoting apartheid.

          • Flag mxm’s comments. He is beyond civility and decency and reason. He must be silenced for spreading true hate speech.

          • No one is beyond decency, civility and reason as you are. Just go back and review your postings, you will realize that you are spreading the most hate speech.

          • The same myth narrative over and over again!!!!

          • Islamic apartheid has failed to erase Israel. Sorry.

          • Ronit Jacobs says:

Freedom will come to Palestinians when Abbas and Hamas are overthrown and they get a true leader like Nelson Mandela who will actually desire a future for their children. But like I said, fascist haters like you will never try to answer any one of the real questions.

          • Freedom will come to Palestinians thanks to their resilient determination and their resistance to immoral thugs like you.

          • When Israel stops stealing their land and imposing Apartheid.

        • Flag the neo-Nazi’s comments (mxm).

One cannot reason with him and he does not deserve a forum to spread his hatred.

        • You said it ” looking at the real issues means confronting the harsh reality that Palestinians suffer” the cruelest oppressive occupation in modern days.

    • South Africans that visited the occupied Palestinian territories declared that the apartheid that existed in South Africa was a Sunday picnic compared to what they witnessed in Palestine.

  7. Israel isn't all evil says:

And another thing … The author condemns Hillel for not being “open,” yet I suspect his SJP chapter is not an “open SJP” chapter that includes pro-Israel speakers and activities on its agenda. Indeed, the very fact that they wish to shut down those who speak in favor of Israel tells you everything you need to know. So clearly the author isn’t interested in genuine free speech (except for himself), since he does not welcome those with opposing viewpoints — and yet he criticizes Hillel for offering what in fact are very minimal restrictions not on individual Jewish students — who are welcome to participate in Hillel events and condemn Israel all they want — but on what speakers and partnerships it will support.

    http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/an-open-letter-to-open-hillel/

    • So he deflects onto “open SJP” while sidestepping Hillel and its censorship with words like “minimal restrictions “. See through the double talk folks. You oppose the Hillel and you’re kicked out. Period.

The Hillel can have all the censored speech it wants. At its facilities. But shame on Brown to participate with an organization that promotes apartheid and restricts free speech.

      • Calling BS on your latest anti-Hillel comments. You can oppose Israel and be a part of Hillel. Many do which either you know (and therefore are a liar) or you do not (and therefore you are ignorant). Which is it?

You have been posting this crap of yours for years. When are you going to graduate or grow up?

Your reply in 3, 2, 1… and since I have work to do I will not have time to read or reply to yours if you make one so feel free to post whatever further blah you want.

        • Are you saying Hillel has no restrictions on activities. Ask the Open Hillel folks. Oh wait, you’re making stuff up as usual, cause the smear is the usual tactic facing anyone who questions Israeli apartheid.

          • Justice Not Propaganda says:

Your use of the term “Israeli apartheid” in and of itself shows your ignorance and that you are not here to discuss or debate but rather to merely spread lies and propaganda. Worthy only to be ignored.

          • Why do you have a new term for Apartheid. Do tell.

          • Islamic apartheid against Jews is a success across 99% of the Middle East, but not against Israel, sorry.

          • Flag the neo-Nazis comments. He deserves no medium to spread his Jew-hate.

          • Is that all you have left to help dimwit Brad with?

          • You should be sorry, denying that that the zionist state is an apartheid regime equal denying the Palestinian people the right to exist.

          • Justice Not Propaganda says:

It’s not a new term that’s needed. What’s needed is for you to stop lying about anything even remotely resembling apartheid going on in Israel. What’s also needed is for you to stop supporting vile terrorists and to start calling for the Arabs to recognize Israel’s right to exist and to agree to live together peacefully. For everyone with any knowledge of the conflict knows that it’s Arab intransigence and unwillingness to accept the Jewish state on any inch of land that’s the only true obstacle to peace.

          • Flag his Nazi comments. He is nothing more than a neo-Nazi.

          • Pity, still resorting to flagging huh.

          • Flag his comments for his comments are no different than what Nazis wrote 70 years ago.

          • Admit it you have been trashed, flagging is all you have left for defence.

          • Isn’t that what you are doing?

          • Justice Not Propaganda says:

No idea what you mean, but since there’s so much garbage that comes out of the mouths of you terrorist-supporting pigs, that’s no big deal.

          • Oh yes you do know what I meant, you couldn’t be that dense.

          • mxm, the Muslim apologist is a living definition of Orwellian logic.

While Muslims practice apartheid in every single Muslim country he accuses Israel of this crime. Meanwhile in Israel the Muslim and Christian populations are growing quickly.

Contrast this with the almost complete genocide of Christians in Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Pakistan and Turkey. Or the genocide of Hindus from their ancient homeland in Pakistan. Or the genocide of all Animists from Sudan. Or the weekly murders of Buddhists in southern Thailand. Or the endless Sunni murders of Shi’ites and Kurds and vice-versa.

Take whatever mxm writes and turn it on its head and chances are that is where you will find the truth.

          • Israel is the only existing apartheid regime since South Africa got rid of its apartheid.

        • Flag his comments for they are no different than what Nazis wrote 70 years ago.

        • He’s not even a student. Can’t be that stupid and get into college, except maybe Gaza U.

    • The author seems to want Hillel and all Jewish groups to be “open” to the world’s only Jewish state being erased/destroyed.

  8. “This is an affront to academic freedom: Brown students should not be exposed to propaganda campaigns…” — and this is different?

  9. Challenge Israel=OK, BDS=BS says:

If you truly are a BDS person, then please leave Brown with its usage of Israeli-developed technology and academic resources. Stop using your computer, your phone which also are full of Israeli products, equipment and applications. And start boycotting all other countries that are perceived as colonial and questionable in their security tactics – like the USA.

    Hypocrite.

    • All with American money, you Hypocrite. If they are some kind of wonderful stop leaching off the United States.

      • All with US money – are you really suggesting one of the top start up countries in the world depends on the US to stay afloat? The country that’s developed innovation after innovation needs the US to stay afloat? Even the Israeli Iron Dome is a partnership with Raytheon and Lockheed – which was why the US taxpayer advanced the $$ to develop it. You lot need to fantasize how Israel is a third world country to have your arguments not immediately collapse – but they still fall from so many lies you need to promote to continue to spin these silly narrative. The US is a strategic partner but not a partner that is so important Israel falls without her. Israel does not fall – it has a vibrant economy and will stand on its resources – millions of people with great brain power. The US profits from the Israeli alliance as does the entire West given Israel is very much the front line now against Jihadi terrorism currently threatening much of the world

        • Yes, i mean by tens of billions the last time i counted. Set your fanaticism aside and post the truth.

          • How much are all the upgrades Israel BARTERS that the US uses in their F16’s and AWACS that are then sold to third party users like Brazil or India? do you even know? Israel has a complex ECM and AWACs (Electronics Counter Measures and Airborne Early Warning and Control system it provides the US. All US advanced Fighters also use a fly by wire system built by Israel. Israel is at the forefront of battlefield aviation electronics development. Why do you think the USA pays Israel 3 billion every year in military aid? All Israeli systems are also EMP hardened – but you don’t know any of it did you? Much better to remain clueless and in your own little Israel hate world

      • Since 1948 the Fakeastinians received billions in international aid and the only thing that aid did was enrich their corrupt leaders at the expense of the Fakeastinian people which only partially explains why they don’t produce anything anyone wants….

    • I tried boycotting Muslim products and found it quite easy because they do not make anything of value. Then I tried boycotting Israeli products and ended up moving into a cave to accomplish this.

    • Yes boycott the USA, cut the hand that has been feeding you for decades, and see where Israel will end-up. This Zionist is not so clever.

      • No its you who’s not so clever and whats more hasn’t a clue how far advanced we are and what we provide the US but maybe its best you remain in the dark. Understand this – despite your apparent belief in Jewish conspiracies to explain away why America doesn’t bite the hand that feeds it – Israel and America are a TWO WAY street – each side profits from the arrangement. The US doesn’t do anything for nothing and those who believe that have serious conspiracy issues

        • Why don’t you go and have some education: learn how to read and write, before attempting to engage in any discussion?

          • Those who engage in lame ad hominem attacks as you have just done indicate clearly the lack of an argument, nothing to add and desperately trying to duck the obvious – they are clueless.

          • No, honestly just go back and review your comments, you MIGHT see what I meant.

      • While Israelis laud their scientists, their artists, their
doctors and multiple Nobel Prize nominees and recipients, Palestinians have a
long and ignominious tradition of extolling the virtues of those who commit
        mass murder, slaughter
        innocents on buses and hijack
commercial airliners. Public squares and streets are named after
them and their children are taught to emulate them. The contrast between
Israeli and Palestinian society could not be starker. One society celebrates
and encourages progress and life while the other has morphed itself into a
death cult, steeped in perverted traits that are an anathema to Western
        civilization.

        • You said it: ” The contrast between the Israeli and the Palestinian society could not be starker” the former is savagely oppressing, stealing land and denying human rights. The latter simply resisting and struggling for survival.

      • Apparently the Zionists are much more clever than the Fakeastinians since they actually produce products the world needs and wants…..

  10. Anti-semites who pretend to be “peace and justice” activists now attack and harass everyone even remotely associated with Israel.

One third of the world’s Jews live in Israel, and they are all now harassed, bullied, attacked, etc by activists who want their country, which is literally surrounded by jihadists, to be erased.

  11. Today’s leftist anti-semites claiming they are merely “criticizing” Israel is like violent KKK members claiming they merely “criticize” black people.

    • Except one side actually strips the other of their lands and enforces apartheid.

      • Yes, Arab/Muslim states that enforce apartheid against Jews, and you Hitlerboys who support them for doing it

        • Brad boy, now it is time to take your meds. You hallucination is getting so annoying.

          • While you make nonsensical comments, the Jews are off winning Nobel peace prizes, getting advanced degrees, launching businesses, developing new technologies, and so on.

          • Most of the nonsense and myth narrative are shamelessly displayed by the likes of you.

      • Justice Not Propaganda says:

        … in mxm’s twisted imagination.

        • Think again, no imagination is twisted as yours is.

          • Muslims don’t have any land. The Middle East region was Judeo-Christian for thousands and hundreds of years before Islam appeared in the 7th century AD. Muslims are squatters on ancient Judeo-Christian land.

          • Now the Zionists are claiming the whole Middle East!!! Keep on dreaming.

      • You want apartheid? Try this.

The top ten countries for persecuting Christians over the last year were ranked: North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Pakistan, Iran and Yemen, according to Open Doors USA, an organization that monitors and exposes Christian persecution around the globe. Particularly, the “2014 World Watch List”, a rather nuanced report, has highlighted these nations based on deep structures of persecution.

Take note that nine out of ten of these countries are Islamic.

Looks like Islam is on par with North Korea.

    • The infamous KKK ideology appears to be mild compared to your hate ingrained sentiments.

  12. Israel is the most democratic, modern, liberal country in the Middle East, yet gets DEMONIZED and HARASSED by “peace activists” a THOUSAND times more INTENSELY than the giant seat of bigoted Arab countries that surround Israel.

Because the tiny state of Israel has Jews. While the countries that surround Israel have ERASED their Jews.

    • Really ? Didn’t know apartheid was a form of democracy. You learn something everyday.

      • Justice Not Propaganda says:

That’s because you clearly do not know what apartheid is. Your same sorry old lies are getting tiresome. (You need some new material. Go back to your pallywood handlers and ask them to manufacture fresh propaganda for you.)

      • Vile, worthless pond scum like you have a lot to learn, this is true.

      • Good point mxm. Why can’t Israel be a corrupt monarchy like Saudi Arabia? Or why can’t Israel be ruled by a tyrannical despot like Sudan, Somalia, Libya, Egypt and all those other more “secular” Muslim states?

Better still why can’t Israel be like the Palestinians? I mean Abbas is now in his eleventh year of a four year term and Hamas? Well, Hamas makes most religious despot regimes look angelic by comparison.

Thanks for bringing this up my neo-Nazi friend.

    • A tiered ethnocracy where Jews come first and the hell with the rest, that is what Israel is.

  13. if Israel (which is majority Jewish) is “apartheid” than the Muslim-majority countries that are Muslim countries are also all “apartheid” states.

Yet, far-left activists ONLY spew this hateful label towards the one tiny Jewish state yet not at any of the 50 Muslim states (ALL of which HARSHLY discriminate against their minority populations.)

    Why is this?

    1) Because Israel has Jews and far-left anti-semites are now on the side of Islamists/jihadists whose mission is not “PEACE” or “JUSTICE” but merely to erase the world’s only Jewish state and reform it into another Arab Muslim state.

    2) ???

    • Indonesia is the largest muslim majority country which allows for equal rights for its Hindus, Christians. So your excuse is Arab States are bad, so that makes apartheid in Israel acceptable. Great.

      • LOL at Indonesia not being discriminatory. You anti-semitic scumbags with your Palestine obsession live on another planet

      • Justice Not Propaganda says:

Except nothing about Israel has anything to do with apartheid. I’d argue that you’re simply ignorant, but it’s clear from all of the garbage you post that you’re well aware that Israel doesn’t practice apartheid; you just choose to post lies in support of vile terrorists.

      • ◾”We will not stop hunting Christians and burning churches. Christians are Allah’s enemies!” – Islamic leaders, Aceh region.

◾In other parts of Indonesia, where Islamic law, or Sharia, is not enforced, churches, even fully registered ones, are also under attack

◾On Dec. 25, 2012, with all required paperwork in place, when the congregation assembled on empty land to celebrate Christmas, hundreds of Muslims threw rocks, rotten eggs, and bags filled with excrement at the Christians. Police stood by and watched.

◾For Indonesia, the country once hailed as the face of “moderate Islam,” the “extremist” behavior one would expect of ISIS has apparently become the norm.

      • Ronit Jacobs says:

Moron, Indonesia is not an Arab country. Oh God!

      • Indonesia is not and was never “Arab” but, let’s not confuse you with facts and logic. We don’t want to see your head explode.

    • Are you just being stupid or are a psychopathic lier who cannot help but spewing nonsense?

  14. Why are Arab-majority states allowed to be Arab states, Muslim-majority states allowed to be Muslim states, yet the world’s one tiny Jewish-majority state gets hatefully called “apartheid” for being a Jewish state?

Answer: Because, far-left “progressives” (more like “regressive”) and bigoted Islamists are in bed with each other.

    • Delusional as you are, no one is wrongly calling Israel an apartheid state, because in reality it is a far worse apartheid regime than South Africa ever was.

      • This is pure apartheid in action…(Brought to you by another Islamic supremacist country.)
        ++

“To clarify: Wahhabism is the only officially recognized and allowed religion in Saudi Arabia. Other forms of Islam and other religions are banned and persecuted by the state.

Saudi Arabia is the only Islamic state in which there is no church, no synagogue and no other place of worship of any other religion.

Shiite Muslims have been systematically discriminated against for decades. Jews are even forbidden to enter the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia practices a form of Sharia law that is one of the most brutal systems in the world. Saudi Arabia has at all times rejected the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948.

Women may not drive a car and can be punished by flogging. Corporal punishment, including amputations and executions, are part of everyday life in the country. Just two weeks ago a Sudanese immigrant in Saudi Arabia was publicly beheaded for ‘sorcery.’ Saudi Arabia is one of the few countries in the world in which the death penalty is enforced even on teenagers,” the paper said.

        • There is little sense in arguing against an unsympathetic approach Zionist. So why waste time on the likes of you.

          • Justice Not Propaganda says:

Actually, there is little sense in arguing with rabid terrorist-supporting anti-Semitic pigs like you. It would be more productive educating a chair.

          • You are proving that you are the rabid pig. and by the way a chair is more apt to be educated than you will ever be.

          • Be careful, you going to implode from extreme hatred.

  15. Jews are the only people in the world now forced to defend nationalism that resulted in one tiny homeland existing for them.

Nobody puts Italians on trial for having Italy.
Nobody puts Arabs on trial for having Arab states.
Nobody puts Muslims on trial for now having over 50 Muslim countries (all of which belonged to Christians Hindus Buddhists etc before Islam came around)

Only Jews/Israelis are put to trial like this.

    • Don’t steal land and hide behind a religion. That exposes your fanaticism

      • Justice Not Propaganda says:

There goes mxm again. More lies. The only ones stealing land are the fakestinians. They should settle in the country created for them – Jordan – or go back to the countries they came from – Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.

        • The invading Ashkenazi Zionists are the ones who should be going back to where they came from. Before their invasion Arabs, Christian and Jews were peacefully
          co-existing in Palestine.

          • The invading jihadist Muslims are the ones who should be going back to where they came from. Before their invasion Hindus lived in Pakistan, Buddhists lived in Afghanistan, Berbers lived in North Africa, Zoroastrians lived in Persia, Animists lived in Sudan, Coptics lived in Alexandria, Chaldeans lived in Mosul, Armenians lived in Turkey…

          • Are you just being or are a psychopathic lier {sic} who cannot help bu spewing {sic} nonesense?

          • All these people you are mentioning above embraced Islam while they still occupy their native lands.

      • Better tell that to Muslims and the 50 Muslim countries they have which didn’t used to be Muslim.

        • Would you condemn the worldwide spread of christianity as you condemn the spread of Islam?

          • Good point (even if not accurate for Christianity focuses on spreading love not hate) for you to try to compare evil Islam with something you evidently deem as equally evil.

That’s like saying it is OK to kill people because Mohammed did it. Oh wait! Silly me…that is exactly what you are saying.

          • You are evil, aren’t you? Oh wait that is the true nature of Zio-fascists. they light up the fire and ask where the smoke is coming from?

          • Justice Not Propaganda says:

Christians aren’t running around the world slaughtering people who don’t follow their God. Only Muslims are doing that.

          • Some deranged radicals (like you) who went bizerk and most muslims all over the world are opposed to their ideology and they are fighting relentlessly.

      • Tell this to Muslims/Arabs:
“Don’t steal land and hide behind a religion. That exposes your fanaticism.”

      • Mxm, I assume you are referring to Islam here and yourself as well?

Why do you support a people (Muslims) who are killing people across the globe indiscriminately?

Oh, I almost forgot, it’s because you are a devout Muslim who hates apostates. Silly me for forgetting.

    • Nobody is behaving like Israeli Zionists, stealing Palestinian land and driving its legitimate owners into refugee camps.

      • Right…Nobody.

The Palestinian expulsion from Kuwait or 1991 Palestinian exodus from Kuwait took place at the end of the Gulf War, when Kuwait expelled almost 450,000 Palestinians.[1] The policy which led to this exodus was a response to the alignment of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and the PLO with Saddam Hussein, who had earlier invaded Kuwait. The exodus took place during one week in March 1991, following Kuwait’s liberation from Iraqi occupation. The story received little media attention in the aftermath of the liberation of Kuwait.

The policy which led to this expulsion was a response to the alignment of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and the PLO with Saddam Hussein, who had earlier invaded Kuwait. The expulsion took place during one week in March 1991, following Kuwait’s liberation from Iraqi occupation. On March 14, only 150,000 Palestinians were still residing in Kuwait, out of initial 450,000 – many of them fearful for their fate.[4]

In total, Kuwait expelled 443,000 Palestinians.[1] Several Palestinians were killed by vigilante groups including some with links to the royal family.[5] With the completion of the exodus only 7,000 Palestinians remained.[1]

Kuwaitis said that Palestinians leaving the country could move to Jordan, and that most Palestinians held Jordanian passports.[4] No reports of where the Palestinans actually went to after the expulsion have appeared.

        • Is that really how you justify that the Palestinians deserve all heinous crimes they are subjected to, under the most oppressive occupation. Shame on you!

    • Only Israel believes it is incapable of wrongdoing.

  16. BDS is not a peace movement. It doesn’t just promote a Palestinian state. BDS promotes ethnic cleansing of Jews entirely out of the West Bank, BDS is OK with Gaza having literally zero Jews, BDS promotes a Palestinian state that would blatantly discriminate against any Jew, AND BDS promotes the act of millions of Arabs/Muslims flooding into the world’s one tiny Jewish state WITH THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE of ERASING Israel as a Jewish state SPECIFICALLY so there’d be a Palestinian state run by Arabs/Muslims AND Israel being ERASED and ALSO being run by Arabs/Muslims. BDS basically tells Jews that their nationalism is evil yet Arab and Muslim and Palestinian nationalism is ENCOURAGED. BDS tells Jews that they have to commit national suicide or else they’re “racist.” BDS tells Israelis that they must suicide their own homeland and allow a massive Jew-hating population conquer Israel and erase Israel or else Israelis are “racist.” BDS isn’t about peace or co-existence, it’s just an assault on Israel’s very existence. BDS singles out Jewish nationalism as something to be destroyed, yet accepts Muslim nationalism. BDS singles out Israel as the world’s only country that needs to be erased, while accepting every Arab country AND promoting a “final solution” against Israel.

  17. Justice Not Propaganda says:

If it weren’t so sickening that these lying terrorist-supporting pigs get so much airtime, it would actually be comical.

  18. Israel has the most successful minority population in the entire Middle East, yet is the only Middle East country that gets accused of “racism and apartheid.”

Israeli Arab citizens are a thousand times more successful than the starving/dead minorities in the countries that surround Israel.

But, Israel has a lot of Jews. So far-leftists target it while ignoring a 100X bigger problem right next to Israel.

  19. Israeli Arabs are doctors, lawyers, scientists, professors, journalists, teachers, judges, etc

Now go look at the minority populations in the countries that surround Israel. They are (1) starving (2) dead (3) Fleeing for their lives

  20. Christians Catholics Buddhists hindus Jews etc. should really team up and start a “STOP ISLAMIC APARTHEID” movement.

  21. Learning from the anti-semites, I think people should refer to “Palestinian apartheid” and “Arab apartheid” and “Islamic apartheid” in every sentence about Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims.

  22. If Israel (the most liberal modern democracy in the Middle East) is “apartheid” than Egypt is apartheid, Palestinians are apartheid, Jordan is apartheid, Syria is apartheid, Yemen is apartheid, Arabs are apartheid, Muslims are apartheid, Muslim countries are all apartheid countries, Arab states are all Arab apartheid states, etc

    Out. Have a good day!

  23. Back just to make a quick observation:

Jewish people mostly seem to just live their lives, focus on family and education, etc. and then be on the DEFENSIVE from relentless attacks from Arabs/Muslims/anti-semites/etc.

Yet there doesn’t seem to be any activity in the world in the other direction. There doesn’t seem to be anyone promoting discrimination against Arab apartheid against non-Arabs, or against Muslim apartheid against non-Muslims, etc.

This should change. Good people in the world who respect the right of Christians, Catholics, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. to team up in “solidarity” the way anti-semites are teaming up with Palestinian activists and start making some noise in the other direction.

Israel is less than 1% of the Middle East yet receives about 99% of the hate.

    • Arrogance. One world that encompasses everything and every aspect of BradD99.

      • Except for the fact that Brad is right.

Are you one of those guys who is envious of Jew’s successes? Maybe try emulating their values instead of being envious of them instead.

        • Envious of your arrogant behaviour? No.
          Emulate supremacist Zio-fascist? No.
The likes of you and this Brad of yours are the most dangerous psychopath the world faces.

    • “Jewish people mostly seem to just live their lives, focus on family and education, etc. ” – You forgot the apartheid part. But then its you.

    • Back just to make a quick observation:

Palestinians mostly seem to just live their lives, focus on family and education, etc. and then be on the DEFENSIVE from relentless attacks from Jews/Khazars/anti-goyims…etc.

Jews areless than 1% of the Middle East yet GIVE about 99% of the hate.

  24. Christians are HARSHLY discriminated against in every single Muslim country. And there are over 50 Muslim-majority countries.

Why aren’t Christians forming “FIGHT ISLAMIC APARTHEID” movements in schools, etc?

  25. For a good time, making a giant list of Muslim countries that discriminate harshly against non-Muslims, women, gays, Jews, other minorities, etc. And then ask yourself, why are far-left activist college kids silent about it?

The answer seems to be “stop changing the subject. Just focus on harassing the Jews for defending themselves from terror/jihad.”

    • Is that really how you prove your innocence in your mind? Every time you’re accused of something or you feel you will be accused of something, YOU accuse others of the things YOU’RE guilty of?

      • Justice Not Propaganda says:

Cute narrative, but that would only fly if Israel were guilty of those things. Since she is not, your post is just more bull crap.

  26. What an error-riddled essay, utilizing as sources some of the most extreme Israel critics, such as David Sheen, who chased a German politician into the bathroom in the German Parliament because he dared ignore him – http://www.welt.de/politik/deutschland/article134236216/Gregor-Gysi-flieht-vor-Antizionisten-auf-Toilette.html – to accuse human rights stalwarts of theft, no less.

So, dear Brown students, what you should know and the reason you should go to hear Natan Sharansky speak tonight, is that he is a human rights hero. He is a man who spent a decade in a Soviet prison not only because he is a Jewish man, but because he dared to speak out against a tyrannical regime. He is, quite literally, a heroic man with the courage few people have or demonstrate in their lives.

  27. Instead of demonizing words just because you don’t understand them and you assume others probably don’t know their meaning either so you can use a negative spin in the interest of truth and justice – something you pretend to care about lets start with “Hasbara” – “Hasbara is a Hebrew word defined as “explanation”. The purpose of Hasbara is to explain and educate western people about the Israeli mission. YOU are using it now to advocate and explain what and who you are and I am using it to challenge you – thats all. There’s nothing nefarious about Hasbara

  28. How is Judea the land of Arabian Arabs and NOT the land of Judeans or Jews? How do you even reach an upside down conclusion like that? It makes NO sense unless you reverse reality and have the invader and occupier become the indigenous and the indigenous that returns become the invader and occupier. Would the Judeans be indigenous if they went to Mecca? They were once living there until Mohammed massacred them

  29. Wayne Firestone isn’t Executive Vice President of Hillel. He was President/CEO, but hasn’t been for like 3 years.

  30. Bravo mmx123, you successfully trashed this whole bunch of vermin that desperately ganged up against you.

  32. “This is an affront to academic freedom: Brown students should not be exposed to propaganda campaigns executed by state powers, especially colonial state powers.”

You talk of academic freedom? You don’t know the meaning of the word. You want to shut down speech you don’t like, and that makes you nothing more than modern-day Brown Shirts. Your organization (SJP) was founded by a UC Berkeley professor (Hatem Bazian) who once told a college crowd he wanted to start an intifada in the US. Well, we are not interested.

You and your BDS movement are, indeed, anti-Semitic.

    • There is nothing anti-Semitic about a movement that supports the restoration of Palestinian freedom and human rights.

      • I have been observing the Palestinian version of freedom and human rights since the 1960s. Skyjackings, Munich Olympics, Entebbe, Achille Lauro, blowing up buses, kidnappings and suicide bombings etc..

        Please spare me.

  33. Wahab Bumsticole says:

And of course Palestinians are such smart, thoughtful, balanced, modest, successful, peaceful, and agreeable people. How could anybody disagree with you? Look at all their nobel prize winners and olympic gold medalists! (ROFLMAO)

    • How could the Palestinians accomplish any achievement under the deplorable conditions they are subjected to by the most oppressive occupation in recent history?

  34. “It is immoral to smear social justice activists with claims of anti-Semitism”

Let’s review some BDSholes own words, to see that the real goal of BDS is denying the Jewish People (and only the Jewish people) their right for self determination in their ~3500 years old homeland:

“(The one state solution means) a unitary state, where, by definition, Jews will be a minority.”

    -Omar Barghouti

    ________________________________________

“Ending the occupation doesn’t mean anything if it doesn’t mean upending the Jewish state itself…BDS does mean the end of the Jewish state. But can’t I see the value in reaching across the aisle, so to speak? The movement may be burgeoning but remains too small. Why shouldn’t we indulge in ad hoc partnerships to get things done? Richard Silverstein, Richard Goldstone, and many other self-proclaimed Zionists have done an immeasurably positive amount of work in skinning the Zionist cat (That’s a deliberate analogy. I don’t kid myself about how difficult it must be for a Jewish person to criticize the Zionist state), shouldn’t they be asked to join the BDS movement?

To be sure, I’m not dogmatically against cooperating with people whose views I find objectionable. If it came down to it, I’d be happy to work with the racist up the street to get the city to fix a neighborhood pothole.”

    -Ahmed Moor (Pro-BDS Author)

    ________________________________________

“The real aim of BDS is to bring down the state of Israel….That should be stated as an unambiguous goal. There should not be any equivocation on the subject. Justice and freedom for the Palestinians are incompatible with the existence of the state of Israel.”

    -As’ad AbuKhalil

    ________________________________________

“[Palestinians have a right to] resistance by any means, including armed resistance. [Jews] aren’t indigenous just because you say you are….[Jews] are not a people…the UN’s principle of the right to self-determination applies only to colonized people who want to acquire their rights. ”

    -Omar Barghouti

    ________________________________________

“BDS’s stated goals (ending the Occupation, equality for non-Jews and Jews, and the right of return of the Palestinian refugees) logically imply the end of Israel as a Jewish state….The “state of the Jews” is actually an instrument by which a Jewish elite ruling class of billionaires and generals and politicians secures its oppressive grip on ordinary Jews in Israel…This is why there should not be a Jewish state.”

    -John Spritzler

“I mean we have to be honest, and I loathe the disingenuousness. They don’t want Israel. They think they are being very clever; they call it their three tier. We want the end of the occupation, the right of return, and we want equal rights for Arabs in Israel. And they think they are very clever because they know the result of implementing all three is what, what is the result? You know and I know what the result is. There’s no Israel!

“They say no they’re not really talking about rights. They’re talking about they want to destroy Israel. And in fact I think they’re right I think that’s true. I’m not going to lie. But this kind of duplicity and disingenuous, “oh we’re agnostic about Israel.” No you’re not agnostic! You don’t want it! Then just say it!

“The moment you go out there Israel will start to say ‘What about us?’ and ‘They won’t recognize our right’ and in fact that’s correct. You can’t answer the Israelis on that because they’re making a statement that’s factually correct. It’s not an accidental and unwitting omission that BDS does not mention Israel. You know that and I know that. It’s not like they’re ‘oh we forgot to mention it.’ They won’t mention it because they know it will split the movement. Cause there’s a large segment of the movement that wants to eliminate Israel.”

    -Norman Finkelstein (BDS activist)

    ________________________________________

“There’s no Israel. That’s what it’s really about.”

    -Norman Finkelstein

    ________________________________________

“A Jewish state in Palestine in any shape or form cannot but contravene the basic rights of the indigenous Palestinian population and perpetuate a system of racial discrimination that ought to be opposed categorically….Definitely, most definitely we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No Palestinian, rational Palestinian, not a sell-out Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”

    -Omar Barghouti [5:50]

    ________________________________________

“Bringing down Israel will really benefit everyone in the world and everyone in society, particularly workers,”

-Lara Kiswan (executive director of the Arab Resource and Organizing Center, BDS activist)

    ________________________________________

“I think the end-all of BDS is to weaken Israel, to isolate Israel, and give the global community a role in the liberation of Palestine and support the resistance on the ground in Palestine.”

    -Lara Kiswani

    ________________________________________

“We’re resisting colonialism in Palestine, and colonialism entails all of occupied Palestine, from Haifa, to Jerusalem, to Ramallah…”

    -Lara Kiswani

    ________________________________________

“You cannot reconcile the right of return for refugees with a two state solution….a return for refugees would end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state. A two-state solution was never moral and it’s no longer working.”

    -Omar Barghouti

    ________________________________________

“[Jews] did not suffer in Arab countries. There were no pogroms. There was no persecution.”

    -Omar Barghouti

    ________________________________________

“We need to wipe out Israel.”

    -Anna Baltzer, pro-BDS activist

    ________________________________________

“I clearly do not buy into the two-state solution.”

    -Omar Barghouti

  35. “It has also been discovered that he stole aid funds pledged to African refugee settlement”

And your source for that BS is ‘Electronic Intifada’? Pathetic.

  36. “Brown students should not be exposed to propaganda campaigns executed by state powers, especially colonial state powers.”

But lectures by Turkish, Saudis, Iranians, et al. – who colonised from India and China to Morocco is Okay, I guess?

  37. “So long as it accepts money from the Netanyahu government”

    And who exactly funds BDS?

    EUROPEAN UNION

The EU is the largest governmental funder for NGOs active in the Arab-Israeli conflict, including some of the most radical and politicized groups. Under the guise of human rights, democracy, and good governance, EU support is transferred to Israeli, Palestinian, and European NGOs that promote anti-Israel BDS.

    GOVERNMENTS

Individual governments, primarily but not exclusively from Europe, transfer millions annually to pro-BDS groups. In many instances, this is in direct contradiction to the foreign policies of these countries, which explicitly oppose boycott efforts and support a two-state solution.

“By America’s own definition, Israel is perpetrating acts of terrorism against Palestine. Israeli airstrikes have purposefully targeted Palestinian hospitals and schools in a crusade to crush the Palestinian people in a barbaric war of expansion. This is “premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets,” as the U.S. State Department defines terrorism.

While there is no doubt that Palestine also commits acts of terrorism, as Noam Chomsky has put it, Palestinian terrorism is “very small as compared with the U.S.-backed Israeli terrorism. Quite typically, violence reflects the means of violence. It’s not unusual. State terror is almost always much more extreme than retail terror, and this is no exception.”

To date, Israel’s aggressive invasion of the Gaza Strip has killed more than 2,100 Palestinians — around 75 percent of whom were civilians — while fewer than 80 Israelis have died….”

  39. You’re in college and you’re that stupid Mr. Al-Sharq? Seriously go to each of your professors and punch them in the face for failing miserably to actually educate you.

  40. Protest away SJP, but stop your lies and slander. There is no apartheid
in Israel, just ask South Africans who know apartheid first hand. Muslim
Arabs serve in the IDF and in the Israeli Knesset. No such thing ever
happened under apartheid. Palestinians should be saved from
their corrupt oppressive leaders, PA and Hamas. Where are the billions
of dollars of international aid? Why are they not seeking peace at any
cost? Instead, why are they inciting violence? Why are there
Palestinians in the West Bank living in refugee camps billions of
dollars and decades later? Why are Abbas and his cronies millionaires?
No oversight, no accountability, minority oppression, misogyny, no free
press, LGBT murdered, political descenters murdered, setting up
impossible terms for peace negotiations and of course, always
scapegoating Israel for Palestinian misery. Answer the tough questions
for once. You are not human rights activists, you are blame the Jews and
destroy Israel activists. BDS’ only goal is the destruction of Israel.
The founder of BDS, Omar Barghouti says so openly all the time. From the
river to sea means no more Israel. Identify yourselves as the genocidal
terrorist supporters you are. We are sick of the hypocrisy and
scapegoating. BDS hurts Palestinians seeking work in Israeli companies
    more than anyone else.
