Top Parents Weekend Destination

Plaza Grille -- 64 De Pasquale Ave., 274.8684

For those of you wondering where you can bring your parents to eat on Parents Weekend - or where they can bring you - look to the Plaza Grille. Nestled along a line of al fresco restaurants on Federal Hill, the Plaza Grille has a European feel with a distinct Italian touch.

The brunch menu does a wonderful job combining breakfast and lunch, offering traditional items with a gourmet flavor. French toast lovers who scoff at the thought of Freedom toast must try the Brie-stuffed variety. Moving a little farther north in Europe, the Belgian waffle with pecans and your choice of fruit is more filling than one would expect. Rounding out the breakfast side, a classy corned beef hash is worth the lofty price, as are the omelets that change at the chef's whim.

Even if you go early - a good idea if you don't have reservations - ordering a lunch plate is always a safe bet. The lobster ravioli is a customer favorite, and there are always specials worth trying. If you enjoy the brunch, make a trip back later in the evening for dinner. Succulent meats with accompanying seasoned vegetables are popular, as are the seafood dishes, which go best with pasta. Don't miss out on the baked polenta appetizer, which comes stuffed with goat cheese, and if you plan on drinking, remember to bring your own bottle.

So when your parents ask where to go for a meal, and if they don't mind spending $15 per person for brunch or $20 per person for dinner, have them take you to the Plaza Grille; they won't regret it.
