Olympic Update: King '97 leads U.S. to two wins; Canada breaks records in blowouts

Both Olympic women's ice hockey teams featuring Brown alums shut out two opponents this weekend. Team USA beat Switzerland in its opening game 6-0 on Saturday before blanking Germany 5-0 the following day. Becky Kellar '97 and Team Canada set a record for margin of victory in a 16-0 drubbing of Italy, which they followed with a 12-0 schellacking of Russia.

Katie King '97 has been the most impressive of the five alums. In two games, she has four points, scoring Team USA's first goal on Saturday, then tallying a goal and two assists on Sunday. Goaltender Pam Dreyer '03 got the start in Sunday's win, stopping 10 shots, 50 fewer than her German counterpart faced, to earn the shutout.

Kathleen Kauth '01 and Kim Insalaco '03 played in both games, but were held pointless.

Kellar, a defenseman for Canada, had an assist in Saturday's game. She had a plus-6 rating after the weekend games, including a plus-4 in the first period of the Italy game.
