The gift comes from the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation, which was co-founded by RISD alum Delle Maxwell.
The first RISD Admitted Students Days was held on April 10, and the next will be on April 17.
The event attracted around 2,000 people and hosted 48 vendors from across the region.
In 2025, 55% of RISD students reported feeling high stress, and 36% reported being diagnosed with depression.
Five speakers spoke on the theme “Desire Path,” sharing their journeys toward self discovery and artistic innovation.
The school has partnered with three other educational institutions with similar research goals that also received the grant.
A study conducted by RISD found that 60% of students struggle to afford materials for their classes.
RISD President Crystal Williams shared an action plan with the RISD community aimed at improving career readiness.
